Section 1 - Huancacalle to Yupanca - 2 hours

Terrain - Steep downhill along the main road through four towns with great views of the Vilcabamba river and valley.

Water - Drinks are available for purchase from each of the towns along the way. Rivers here are large and run through populated areas, care is needed to properly purify this water.

Notes - Petrol and kerosene are only reliably available for purchase in Huancacalle and Yupanca. Snacks and drinks, along with a limited selection of fruit and vegetables are available the entire way.
