• Light, airy and well ventilated rooms on a quiet street
• Free and unlimited internet access
• Use of the kitchen, including oven, fridge and freezer. The kitchen is well equipped
• Cable tv and tv guide
• Comfortable beds - no bed end
• Small outside eating area
• Near to local facilities and an easy 20min walk to the central business district
• Top loading washing machine available, fairly expensive

Negative points of Hospedaje Casa del Sol

• Smoking inside by both owners and guests - bedrooms are directly off the living room
• Wiring not tacked to walls, it crosses sections of the room, hanging across corners
• Owners argue in the communal areas
• Ants in the living room
• No way to lock guest room doors
• Beds not made on arrival - the sheets are handed over with an explanation of how to use pillow cases and sheets
• Unfriendly atmosphere, a definite feeling that the owners are kindly allowing guests to stay in their house
• TV permanently on, even if no-one has been watching it for hours

Local attractions and facilities

• Santiago has everything a modern capital city has - endless restaurants, bars, nightclubs plus museums and tourist sites

Would we return? Probably not. Finding budget accommodation in Santiago can be difficult - most, including this one, do not have signs up outside. In the light of that if we are back in Santiago we may return to this hospedaje, but it is not likely.
