After the border there are no more ranches for quite a period. The path starts to show more wear and tear on this side of the border. Horse traffic takes a higher toll on the paths in the wetter conditions, causing corrugations in the path, as in the picture to the right. Mostly the corrugations are spread so that it is possible to walk on the peaks, avoiding the puddles in the troughs. We were able to have a fire at the camp here without any problems, it was the only place that seemed fully safe to have one. It was very welcome at the end of the day and with the lack of bugs made a pleasant change from darkness or harsh LED headlamps.
